‘They Lied To You’: activists launch global campaign debunking Gaza ceasefire narrative
Israel continues to commit massacres in the war-torn enclave on a daily basis, the latest of which wiped out an entire family of six.

Ten months into the US-brokered Gaza ceasefire deal, the Israeli genocidal aggression against the besieged territory has not stopped, nor has the dire humanitarian situation improved.
Over the ostensible truce period, Israel killed at least 1,185 people across the Gaza Strip, and injured 3,816 others, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. This takes the death toll of Palestinians killed in the Israeli genocidal aggression since October 2023, to 73,311 people.
Daily massacres have been committed as the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) have continued to launch airstrikes and artillery shelling, while expanding ground incursions, during which civilians were shot dead.
The latest massacre of which took place on Tuesday, July 21, when an Israeli airstrike hit a house in the Sabra neighborhood in Gaza city. A man of the Al-Masri family, his wife, and four children were burned alive in the aerial assault.
Earlier that day two other men – also from the Al-Masri family – were burned beyond recognition, when an Israeli strike targeted their vehicle in the town of Al-Zahra, northwest of the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.
The consistent mass killing in Gaza, alongside Israel’s continued ban of aid entry, reconstruction, and emergency evacuations, provides stark evidence that the genocide remains in full swing and that the Trump-dictated ceasefire is nothing but a facade.
“They lied to you,” say Palestinians and their supporters as the genocide continues
On Thursday, July 16, Palestinian and international activists, journalists and humanitarian workers launched a global digital campaign under the hashtag #TheyLiedToYou.
The campaign aims to debunk the narrative of the Trump and the Netanyahu administrations, which claims that the October 2025 ceasefire brought the Israeli genocidal aggression against Gaza to an end.
“They lied to you. They call it a ceasefire, when food was blocked, hospitals were attacked, and neighborhoods were erased,” Romanian activist Nicole Jenes noted on one of the campaign’s videos.
“And they counted on your silence. Don’t let their words become a cover for ongoing suffering,” Palestinian-American activist, producer, and storyteller, Alana Hadid continued.
A number of Palestinian journalists and citizens appeared in another video aired by Quds Network, using the same slogan of the campaign, while sounding the alarm about the persistent catastrophic situation in Gaza.
While the campaign has gone globally viral over the past week, the people of Gaza still need the people of conscience around the world to amplify their voices and organize more effective global actions to end their tragedy.
