Last week, Google laid off its entire YouTube Music team while the workers were testifying before the Austin City Council on a resolution to require Google to bargain with their union in good faith. Google has publicly refused to negotiate with YouTube Music workers since they unanimously voted in favor of unionizing with the Alphabet Workers Union-CWA in April 2023. Eugene and Rania speak to Sam Regan, a worker-organizer at AWU-CWA and one of the YouTube Music workers who was fired, about why the layoffs won’t stop workers across Google and Alphabet from continuing to fight back against Google’s illegal, union-busting behavior.
