The Pentagon’s CENTCOM just confirmed three more service members killed over the weekend in Tehran’s retaliations for more than a week straight of US airstrikes on Iran. The IRGC vows “not a single drop” of fuel will pass through the Strait of Hormuz while Trump’s attacks continue; as June’s ceasefire MOU settles atop the dustbin of history, global oil stockpiles run dangerously low, gas prices spike again, and Iran’s battered power grid is collapsing amid a heat wave, leaving huge portions of the country’s 90 million people sweltering in the dark. Tehran-based journalist Navid Zarrinnal joins the show with the latest from inside Iran.
Twenty-year-old Palestinian American Saif Musallet flew from his home in Tampa, Florida to visit family in the occupied West Bank in June 2025, where he was attacked and beaten to death by more than two dozen Israeli settlers on his family’s land near Sinjil north of Ramallah. More than a year later, calls from US Ambassador to Israel Mike “No Such Thing as a Palestinian” Huckabee for an “aggressive” investigation into the “criminal and terrorist act” have long gone quiet, and no one has been held accountable for Saif’s murder. Saif’s father Kamel Musallet joins BT Live to discuss the fight for justice for his son.
In Colombia, president-elect and Trump darling Abelardo de la Espriella has suspended his transition into office and accused outgoing president Gustavo Petro of plotting a “coup” to retain power, after Petro accused Israel of hacking the National Registry to rig the runoff and used his final speech as president to call on Colombians to occupy the plazas and resist de la Espriella’s neoliberal agenda in the streets. Los Angeles-based Colombian activist Javier Guerrero joins BT Live to unpack what these latest developments could mean for Colombia’s rural and working class left – as the Donroe Doctrine strikes again.
